My Family

My Family is a great source of pride for me.  My immediate family all currently reside in South Carolina.  Although I have never lived in South Carolina- and no one else that I'm related to lives there, somehow my Mom, Dad, Grandma, Brother, Sister-in-law, and nieces all ended up there.

My Dad is a poet, and teacher.  With a Masters Degree in English, he taught college English, Literature, and Creative Writing for over 20 years.  Now he devotes most of his time to writing (& playing softball and golf).  He is the author of numerous books, and over 1800 published poems.  Go to www.GeneFehler.com to view my Dad's work!

My Mom is a retired Air Force Captain, and educator.  With a masters degree in nursing, she joined the Air Force when I was 11 years old.  After leaving the Air Force, she went on to work in neonatal intensive care, and then on to teach nursing.   After years as the head of the nursing department, she recently gave up that position to go back to teaching.

My brother Tim is a history professor at Furman University in Greenville, SC.  He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University (magna cum laude) and his Masters & PhD from The University of Wisconsin.   His work has allowed him to travel, research, teach, and speak all over the world.  He and his wife Jacquelyn live in Greenville with my 2 beautiful nieces Mireille and Gabrielle.

In September of 2007, I was blessed with a beautiful baby girl!  This life changing experience has enabled me to look at life in an entirely new light!  She brings joy to my life on a daily basis.  You can see pictures of my beautiful daughter at www.KayaRain.com.
